This is going to come as an enormous shock to readers of this blog or punchingIN.com, but I sort of have this thing for the color orange. What folks might not know is that I also have a (very small) collection of antique typewriters (and fans, but that’s a topic for another day).

So, when Shawn Blanc linked to John Carey’s Typewriter Picnic post on FiftyFootShadows, and I saw those two worlds colliding before me on the screen, I immediately downloaded the images and set the one you see above as the wallpaper on my iPad.

I’m not exactly sure where my love of orange came from, but I think it might have had something to do with that satin orange Philadelphia Flyers jacket I had in first grade. Yes, I was once a Flyers fan, back when the toothless Bobby Clarke and Rick Macleish ruled the ice, the latter by pretty much beating the living crap out of anyone that got in his way. Something very compelling about that to a 6-year-old kid.

And yes, I did use the word, “satin.” And, no, you cannot see the photos.
