Porsche’s 956/962 is easily my favorite racing car of all time. They were dominating the Group C series in the early eighties, just as I was becoming a racing fan, so they’ve always been unmatched in my mind as to what a racing sports car should be.
Next month, Griot’s Garage will be hosting 962 #002 at their monthly Caffeine & Gasoline event:
This car, the second 962 built, was constructed by the Porsche factory for the Rothmans team to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship and was driven by Jacki Ickx and Jochen Mass. The Rothmans team won the World Endurance Championship in 1985 with the help of this car, chassis #002.
