Download now or watch on posterous IMG_0143.MOV (342 KB) Gorgeous night for an outdoor show. It’s been almost 10 years since I was here. Forgot just how wonderful of a setting this is.   Ironically, I am sitting alone right now. Debra’s folks are off to grab sone dinner while Debra runs back to put her mom’s camera in the car. No cameras...

From the heat, to the snow
It’s about 30 degrees warmer at the house, but just cool enough here to still have some snow on the ground. The drive up to Mount Rainier is truly phenomenal. Incredible views and scenery, of course. But even better for a car nut like me, the roads are curvy and smooth, especially inside the park itself. A driver’s dream. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to come...

Apple vs MS: less than $5B to go
What jumped out at me this week following the quarterly results from Microsoft and Apple is just how close these two companies are getting in revenue terms.   I’m so used to dismissing the Apple vs. Microsoft rhetoric, for a number of reasons, of course, but also because, for years, Apple has been a fraction of Microsoft’s size. But when a poor quarter for Microsoft lines up with a...

Muppet exorcism?
What exactly is the protocol when the ghost of Gonzo appears in a stain on your kitchen counter? And does it matter that it appears he is hockin’ a loogie? Posted via email from my name is taken | Comment »

Unbelievable speed
The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is the famed “TT” race that has for over 100 years flown through the streets of an island in the Irish Sea. The video below follows 2009 race winner Steve Plater through the course from a camera mounted on his bike. The speed is overwhelming, and I have no idea how professional racers react as quickly as they do. I think what is most stunning is how...

Who Needs an SUV, The Sequel
Four-foot tall honeysuckle plants are no match for a Jetta. The kids aren’t too thrilled with having them between their legs, mind you… Posted via email from my name is taken | Comment »

Magical Music Video
This video is simply genius.   It’s easy to deconstruct how they might have created all the effects, but that still didn’t stop me from saying “how’d they do that?” It was usually followed by a pause and then an “…oh yeah…cool…”   Posted via email from my name is taken | Comment »
