Some cars look better in person

The new Nissan 370Z is one of them. In photos, it looks overwrought and plump, but standing beside it, it has a very solid and planted stance. I especially love the way the wheels are pushed to the corners, with the bodywork wrapped tightly over them in very muscular arches. It is smaller than expected and looks every bit the sports car it is. Nicely done.

Oh, thank god

I have a lot of work to get done.

Another Amazing Series from Boston.com

Boston.com's Big Picture has quickly become one of my favorite destinations for incredible photography. Their recent photo stories for Earth Day and "Peering into North Korea" were particularly excellent, and include wonderful images, including my favorite of a woman carrying water in the City of Hyesan (here).

On Saturday, they posted a new series, "2009 Formula One season, wet & dry." It includes some dramatic images of the cars and drivers in what has so far been one of the most exciting seasons of F1 racing in over a decade. The photographs of the scenes in Malaysia and Shanghai, in particular, tell a far better story of just how treacherous the wet racing conditions were than I'd seen in any of the the video coverage.

Color Therapy

With the first blue sky in a while, I just couldn't sit inside all day. A sampling of the colors around the yard.

Problem, hmm?

I never quite thought of it as a problem, per se...

A Sunday Walk

The flaky Seattle weather cooperated yesterday, and so we headed off for a walk down the Burke-Gilman Trail. About 5K, Gillian rode her scooter the entire way, while Aidan realized that his plan to "run the whole way" might not have been realistic.

Good music

A morning kids concert by Johnny Bregar at Tottini in Seattle.

A Brady Bunch of Good News

Apple has a great "Apple Quick Tips" podcast that I've been following for a while (iTunes). Every third or fourth episode, I find some interesting new tidbit I'd never known before, packed into its simple 2-minute format.

As an added bonus, this week's episode appears to be hosted by none other than Bobby Brady. I see that he's gone with the more serious and professional "Robby" now in an effort to distance himself from his sitcom roots.

Great tip from Andy Kim

For the Canadian dollar, just replace the "GBP" with "CAD." You can also swap positions of the currencies to get the conversion rates in both directions: CADUSD=X and USDCAD=X. Very cool. Thanks, Andy.
